Floor area isn’t the whole story. The door opening is narrower than the container’s external width, so pallet cages, ride-on mowers, generators and wheeled shelving may be harder to load than expected. Check the largest item first, then allow room to turn, unload and work safely around it. Payload also needs checking.   • One-trip containers have made one cargo journey from the factory before sale. They normally offer the best paint, floor and door condition.
  • Wind and watertight units keep out rain and draughts, although they may show dents, rust or patch repairs.
  • Cargo worthy containers are considered suitable for freight movement after inspection and any necessary repairs.
  • IICL is a higher inspection standard from the International Institute of Container Lessors, with tighter limits on damage and wear.

For secure council storage where the contents aren’t especially sensitive, a wind and watertight unit may be enough. High-use sites, stockrooms and locations where the doors will be opened repeatedly may benefit from one-trip or IICL grade containers.
